Good Place to Work – Interviewing Federico Orsi de los Reyes

We are excited to feature Federico Orsi de los Reyes, an indispensable member of SynTech Research Group, based in Uruguay. In this interview, Federico shares insights into his role, motivations and experiences working at SynTech Research Group.

1. What is your primary role, and how would you describe your day-to-day responsibilities?

My primary role is in Business Development and Account Management for the Americas. My day-to-day work is very dynamic and combines managing and growing existing accounts with identifying and developing new business opportunities across the region.

A key part of my responsibilities is sales planning and forecasting, maintaining visibility of our commercial pipeline, and working towards our sales and revenue targets. This means not only following current opportunities, but also actively prospecting for new clients, identifying potential R&D needs, and building relationships that can turn into future business.

I work closely with clients to understand their R&D programs and translate their needs into opportunities for SynTech. Internally, I coordinate with our operational and project management teams to evaluate feasibility, prepare proposals, and make sure we can deliver the right technical solution at the right value.

Another important part of my role is connecting our capabilities across the Americas. Many of our clients operate internationally, so I frequently work across countries and teams to find opportunities where SynTech can support their programs regionally or globally.

2. What are the values and culture of SynTech Research Group that resonate most with you?

What resonates most with me is the entrepreneurial and collaborative culture. There is a lot of freedom to bring ideas to the table, challenge how things are done, and take ownership of opportunities.

I particularly value that commercial growth is not seen as the responsibility of one person or one department. There is a strong willingness across the organization to collaborate, find solutions and help turn opportunities into successful projects.

I also really value the international nature of the company. Even though we work across different countries, cultures, and time zones, when an opportunity or a challenge comes up, you can reach out to colleagues from different parts of the organization and find people willing to contribute.

3. What is your favorite activity or hobby outside of work, and have you found support or community for it within the company?

Outside of work, one of my main interests is fitness and strength training. It is something I have been passionate about for a long time.

What I appreciate at SynTech is that people are genuinely interested in what their colleagues do outside of work. We talk about our hobbies, families, sports, travel, and personal projects, which helps create relationships that go beyond our professional responsibilities.

4. Is there any personal story or anecdote you’d like to share about your time at SynTech Research Group that exemplifies why you enjoy working here?

One thing that has stood out to me is how quickly I was able to feel part of a global team. I came to SynTech after spending many years in the same organization, so joining a new company and a much broader international structure was a significant change for me.

From the beginning, I found people across different countries who were willing to share their experience, listen to new ideas, and work together on opportunities. Today, I can be discussing a project in the US in the morning, working on an opportunity in Brazil or Argentina later in the day, and collaborating with colleagues in Europe or other regions in between.

That combination of trust, autonomy, commercial drive and international collaboration is probably what I enjoy most about working at SynTech.
