We are excited to feature Tarciso Bortolin, an indispensable member of SynTech Research Group, based in Piracicaba, Brazil. In this interview, Tarciso shares his insights into his role, motivations and experiences working at SynTech Research.
What is your primary role, and how would you describe your day-to-day responsibilities?
The primary role is to coordinate GMO studies (Studies with genetically modified plants). Our team is very dynamic, dealing with field task (e.g planting, sampling, evaluations) until laboratory activities (e. g. maintain biosecurity procedures, samples screening, analysis and report).
What are the values and culture of SynTech Research Group that resonate most with you?
From all the SynTech EPICS values I select Passion and Care. When you are allowed to work with PASSION, feeling full of energy and operating like it’s your own project it is a good strength for our business. So this connected with CARE a way to preserve health and wellbeing of its people we have a consolidate base, to permit others 3 – EXCELLENCE, INTEGRITY and SCIENCE to flow and to develop.
What is your favorite activity or hobby outside of work, and how have you found support or community for it within the company?
Going to the gym is one of my favorite hobbies. For me it can be an excellent way to manage stress and well-being, allows you to provide physical and mental health benefits. There I can connect my mind with goals and challenges and apply this model to solve tasks in my job and life. SynTech gives us incentives for physical and mental health. So I keep having a good workout!!!
Is there a particular achievement or project in your career that you are especially proud of?
Being a professional reference in working with non-target organisms (e.g. insects, spiders and mites) within the scope of genetically modified plants in Brazil is something that inspires me every day and sharing this with SynTech, which allowed me to expand other business possibilities, is fantastic.
Is there any personal story or anecdote you’d like to share about your time at SynTech Research Group that exemplifies why you enjoy working here?
As The Little Prince would say “What I am seeing is no more than the shell. What is truly important I cannot see.” But I can see!!! I see a good cup of coffee every morning in SynTech. Haha joking… The truth is that important things in life you cannot see with your eyes, only with your heart. SynTech is a good place to work by your heart.
