SynTech Argentina successfully completes first major GM crop trials

Insect resistant GM corn trial harvest
Insect resistant GM corn trial harvest

In June, SynTech Argentina completed a series of regulated trials on pest-resistant corn and soybeans, to evaluate ecological interactions, agronomic and phenotypic characteristics for each crop. They also included comparisons between stacked and parental events. The trials included assessments of efficacy, environmental impact (non-target organisms) and residues.

Such trials in insect resistant crops require SynTech entomologists able to identify insect species, associated crop injury and potential ecological damage. At present SynTech Argentina has three experimental sites for GMO Row Crops: La Guarida, La Querencia, El Progreso (Victoria), and is intending to add further locations in Cordoba and Sta.Fe.
