Good Place to Work – Interviewing Francisco Zuazua

We are excited to feature Francisco Zuazúa, an indispensable member of SynTech Research Group, based in Chile. In this interview, Francisco shares her insights into his role, motivations and experiences working at SynTech Research.

What is your role at SynTech Research and what do you like the most about your daily work?

I serve as the Lead for Efficacy and GEP Services, where I am responsible for coordinating local investigation and regulatory teams and projects follow-up across different countries across Latin America. My role involves ensuring the quality and compliance of trial protocols, while also providing direct support to commercial teams, particularly in project scoping, client consultations, and proposal development. I am also actively involved in training local teams on efficacy-related topics, helping strengthen technical capabilities across our zone.

What values and culture do you especially enjoy at SynTech?

I deeply appreciate our leaders’ genuine respect for every team and individual. They remain accessible, celebrate our efforts, and actively recognize achievements. Equally important is SynTech’s strong commitment to protecting our people, the environment, and workplace equity through its robust Corporate Social Responsibility program. Such consistent care and responsibility are rare among companies in our region, making SynTech’s culture truly distinctive.

Recently, you participated in SynTech Leadership Academy II training program 2024/2025, can you share what you learnt and in which aspects did you find SLA training as most valuable for yourself?

This leadership workshop was a highly enriching experience. Meeting colleagues in person (beyond emails) helped build real connections and strengthened team spirit.

A key takeaway was learning about the different behavioral styles of each member of the teams and how to apply them to improve collaboration and team effectiveness. It reinforced the idea that leadership isn’t only about having the “best” people, but about bringing out the best in each person and making the most of their strengths.

Most importantly, it became clear that our company truly values people, not just in words, but through consistent actions that reflect a strong people-first culture.

Is there a particular achievement and/or project in your career that you are especially proud of?

Of course, there are many, but I’d say that more than any particular project, I’m proud of the care and dedication we put into ensuring the quality of our work, both in efficacy and regulatory services. This quality of work includes the services themselves, communication, and ongoing support for our clients and internally within our work teams. Something very rewarding about this style of work is the recognition from clients and colleagues.

Anything else you may wish to share in your interview?

Yes. I’d like to share that this career path has been a personal goal since the early stages of my professional journey. Reaching it was not easy; for several years it felt almost out of reach, especially when I was starting my family and faced moments when I considered giving up on these ambitions to meet family needs.

However, joining SRG marked a turning point. What once felt distant gradually became achievable, not just professionally, but in a deeply fulfilling way. I can confidently say that my family wouldn’t be what it is today without the opportunity to be part of this remarkable company.

I still have many goals ahead, as we all do. But based on what we’ve experienced here – the team support, leadership recognition, and the trust of our clients – I truly believe those goals will become realities, sooner rather than later.
