Position Mission
Lead the strategy and overall development of the Seeds and Biotechnology business in Europe, ensuring sustainable growth, profitability, and the company’s competitive positioning. Drive the integration of plant breeding, biotechnology, product development, and market access capabilities to generate value for customers and achieve regional business objectives.
General Responsibilities
- Manage the business unit in accordance with corporate policies, quality standards, and guidelines.
- Align commercial, technical, regulatory, and operational strategies with regional and global objectives.
- Promote a culture of innovation, customer focus, collaboration, technical excellence, and continuous improvement.
- Ensure achievement of growth, profitability, market share, and customer satisfaction objectives.
Specific Responsibilities
Business Strategy and Development
- Define and lead the Seeds and Biotechnology strategy for Europe.
- Establish growth, profitability, positioning, and portfolio expansion objectives.
- Analyze market trends, competitive dynamics, regulatory changes, and customer needs to identify business opportunities.
- Lead medium and long-term planning of the region’s service portfolio.
- Drive the delivery of seed projects across all stations in the region.
Commercial Management and Customer Relations
- Lead relationships with customers, technology partners, research institutions, and industry organizations.
- Identify new business opportunities.
- Prepare Quotes and secure projects.
- Drive cross-selling with the different entities in/out Europe and other company BUs.
Quality, Innovation and Continuous Improvement
- Provide technical support to ensure compliance with quality standards, regulations, and internal requirements.
- Promote continuous improvement of processes, methodologies, operating models, and adoption of tools for trial execution and breeding services.
- Leverage lessons learned from projects, launches, and research activities.
- Drive initiatives that increase efficiency, quality, and speed of innovation.
Position Profile
Education and Technical Knowledge:
- Degree in Agronomy, Biology, Genetics, or a related field.
- Postgraduate degree, Master’s, or PhD in Plant Breeding, Biotechnology, Crop Sciences, or related fields (preferred).
- Strong knowledge of plant breeding, seeds, and biotechnology.
- Experience in agronomic research, product development, and germplasm evaluation.
- Knowledge of regulatory processes related to seeds and biotechnology.
- Ability to interpret and use scientific, agronomic, and market information.
- Knowledge of business management, budgeting, and business development.
- Proficiency in data analysis tools and digital platforms applied to agriculture.
- Advanced English and French. Knowledge of additional European languages is desirable.
Experience:
- More than 5 years of experience in seeds, biotechnology, plant breeding, R&D, or product development.
- Proven cross-functional relationship management &/or leading regional/international teams.
- Track record in business management, commercial development, and leadership of complex projects.
- Experience interacting with strategic customers, regulatory bodies, and technology partners.
