New Research Scientist to develop SynTech’s Protein Expression capability

SynTech Research Laboratory Services has appointed Ms. Karin E. Gaertner as Research Scientist for Biotechnology laboratory work, based at Stilwell, Kansas.  Her main responsibilities will be to develop and supply protein expression services (including application of ELISAs) e.g. for GMO or ecotoxicology studies.  Ms. Gaertner has worked in industry and academia over the past thirteen years, nationally and internationally.  Her background is in molecular (protein and gene expression) sciences, environmental sciences, and ecotoxicology, in which she has experience in study directorship, project management and method development.  She received her B.S. in Marine Science from the University of South Carolina, and a M.S. in Conservation Biology and Sustainable Development from the University of Wisconsin, followed by graduate work in Environmental Toxicology at the University of South Carolina, focused on Molecular Ecotoxicology.
