Microbiology

SynTech Research delivers a comprehensive portfolio of tests for the development, registration, and quality control of biopesticides, biofertilizers, and biostimulant products.

Located in Picanya, Spain, SynTech Research’s microbiology laboratory combines modern infrastructure with validated methodologies (CIPAC, OECD, EUCAST) and an expert team to ensure reproducible and traceable results.

GLP Accredited Areas

The laboratory is officially GLP (Good Laboratory Practices) accredited laboratory by ENAC (Entidad Nacional de Acreditación):

  • Ecotoxicology (GLP ): Analytical determination of active ingredient content by colony forming units (CFU) count.
  • Physical-Chemical (GLP –): Physical-chemical tests on formulations or TGAI described by CIPAC and OECD guidelines. Active ingredient determination through microbial analysis. Microbiological Testing Offer (Non-GLP)

Product Quality: Microbial Contaminants

Analysis of 5 batches using validated analytical methods for active ingredient content and impurities:

  • Aerobic plate count
  • Bacillus cereus
  • Escherichia coli
  • Salmonella
  • Staphylococcus aureus
  • Coliform bacteria
  • Viable yeast & mold
  • Anaerobic spore formers
  • Listeria monocytogenes
  • Shigella
  • Pseudomonas aeruginosa
  • Vibrio cholerae

Phenotypic Antimicrobial Susceptibility Testing (AST)

Evaluation of antibiotic and antifungal resistance or susceptibility of microbiological strains destined for registration .

  • EUCAST Disk diffusion method (antibiotic susceptibility)
  • MIC (Minimum Inhibitory concentration) determination: Gradient antibiotic strips method (based on microdilution method by EUCAST guidelines)

Growth Characteristics and Preliminary Tests

  • Growth dynamics characterization of strains under different conditions (temperature, pH, etc.) and morphological characterization.
  • Phosphate solubilization trials

Pathogenicity Early Screening Tests

Early detection of pathogenic factors: hemolytic phenotype, antibiotic resistance screening

Inoculum Production for Field Trials

Rate-adjusted inoculum production for field trial testing within customized carriers for preliminary efficacy testing prior to formulation stages.

Environmental Microbiology & Soil Health

Soil microbiome carbon analysis (microbial biomass) is responsible for organic matter degradation, aggregate stability, and nutrient cycling. Determination of microbial biomass to assess:

  • Maintenance of soil fertility
  • Ability to degrade added organic materials
  • Effects of added materials on natural microbial population

Population dynamics analysis: microbial populations in leaves or soil (total or specific counts) to monitor changes in beneficial communities with biostimulant products.

Methodologies and Standards

Analytical Method validation for GLP analysis of samples for ecotoxicology and physico-chemical tests.

CIPAC/OECD for physio-chemical and formulation performance.
