Fernando Gallina has been appointed Regional Director for Latin America. Previously Head of Field Crops Seeds Development LATAM for Syngenta, Fernando joins SynTech with 37 years Marketing and R&D experience in crop protection and seeds with Syngenta and its legacy companies.
He will direct laboratory, field and regulatory programs in SynTech Brazil and other LAM territories, including forecasting, prioritizing and providing resources for these, and take accountability for service contracts between SynTech Brazil & LAM customers and suppliers. As a Director and member of the SynTech Leadership Team, he will contribute to development of global strategy, and ensure this is interpreted, communicated and delivered throughout the Region.
Fernando joined ICI Brazil Field Research & Development in 1982, after graduating in Agronomy from the Federal University of Pelotas. Following seven years of experience in field trails, he moved through Crop Protection Product Development, Product Management, Marketing and Portfolio Management roles. From 2014, he led Syngenta´s Latin America Regional Product Development organization, covering all operations for crop protection and seeds development. In 2017 he became the Head of Field Crops Seeds Development for Latin America, accountable for R&D activities which led to launch of new soybean varieties and corn hybrids.
Fernando also holds an Executive MBA from Dom Cabral Foundation, Brazil, and has trained at CCL (USA), Columbia University (USA) and INSEAD (France). He has been Executive President of the “Agronomists Club of Campinas”, is a board member of the São Paulo State Agronomist Association (AEASP) and of the Agrícola Mantiqueira SA.
